the walls are peeling
Tom's third (
and undoubtedly most rushed) student film.
"
walls" was, by accident, Tom's
first foray into production without a locked script. In fact, there was
barely a script at all, with the initial ideas for the project being a
collection of crude scribbles that were eventually cobbled together as the only resource for both the
recording session and the
animatic. Due to Tom's school workload and the short deadline (
which was incredibly unkind to animated production),
the screened cut was assembled from incredibly rough storyboards. Only
three scenes were attempted to be animated before the deadline came
through, but sleep eventually overcame this prospect.
The original path for the film was going to be very dreamlike and focus
a lot more on the supermarket. During the earliest stages of writing,
Tom, while discussing the concept with his film teacher, felt a sharp
pain in his appendix. This was genuinely the inspiration for the film.
Sorry.
